About Us

Shyam

I am a 13 year old with autism. I look at the world differently than most people, which can be both beneficial and challenging.  I can hyperfocus, which allows me to see details that others do not. I also look at the world with a black and white frame. I have struggled with depression because of black and white thinking. It is often hard for me to have a positive perspective, and I hyperfocus on the negative. I used to be afraid to share my feelings with others, assuming no one would listen. I thought that I was weak and did not deserve the care I needed. With counseling, I have grown and am becoming a stronger, well rounded person. I realize that the world is not as black and white as it seems.

I want to share my experience with other kids and teens and let them know they are not alone. There are people out there who can help them, like they helped me. However, I know that many kids and teens do not have the access to mental health support that I had. I want to connect these kids and teens with the resources they need.  They deserve to be heard and should not suffer in silence.

I want to create awareness about the struggle our community has with mental health and access. Georgia ranks one of the lowest five in mental health care access in the United States. I want to be part of the movement that changes this reality.

Arjun

I am Shyam’s 9 year old brother. I want to help kids who need care who can’t get it, so we can all be healthy. Kids need to help kids for their future!
